Every dollar I raise through the Marilyn Jetty Swim will fund Cancer Council SA’s vital research, prevention programs and support services, like Cancer Council 13 11 20, for all South Australians impacted by cancer.

Almost 10 years since my introduction to the Marilyn Jetty Swim
Sunday 26th Jan
In late 2015 I was invited to attend a charity movie screening by some amazing ladies I met when I had moved my office from home to one of the spaces at Sass Place on Glen Osmond Road. Among those attending the fundraising movie was the amazing and gorgeous Sarah Tinney OAM who had created the Marilyn Jetty Swim charity fundraising event for Cancer Council SA in memorial of her beloved mother who had passed from cancer. With of course the unwavering support of Sarah's husband Grant and their amazing children, neighbours and friends among so many amazing and wonderful people that I was yet to meet and am now proud to call my Marilyn family.
From the very first moment I met Sarah in 2015, she was encouraging me to join in the swim the following February 2016, and I admit that I was initially politely declining as I did not believe my Rheumatoid Arthritis was compatible with a 400 metre swim around Brighton Jetty as part of the Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic . Sarah suggested that shore Marilyn's were also needed and I agreed to be one of those, not knowing exactly what I had said yes to. My first ever "Shore Marilyn" appearance was on 7 February 2016. I shall share highlights of the years the following by subsequent posts. We have an amazing number of Marilyn and MaleLyns registered this year for the 2 February 2025 event and I would greatly appreciate any donations to my own personal fundraising goal for this year that you can spare.
