Why is the location changing?

The Marilyn Jetty Swim is growing year-on-year and in 2026 we’re expecting over 1,000 Marilyns taking part.

As the number of Marilyns taking part has increased, so has the infrastructure required to hold such an event – it takes the Cancer Council SA team significant time, planning and resources to deliver.

As we can’t guarantee that conditions at Brighton Jetty will be favourable for swimming on the day, we have decided to relocate the Marilyn Jetty Swim to Marion Outdoor Pool in February 2026.

But we’ll still be supporting the Brighton Jetty Classic on Sunday 1 February with our Marilyns invited to join our popular parade down Jetty Road.

What is the Marilyn Jetty Swim: Poolside Edition?

The Marilyn Jetty Swim: 2026 Poolside Edition is an opportunity for our Marilyn community to come together and celebrate 13 years of support for South Australians impacted by cancer.

You can expect a poolside festival-like experience complete with food trucks and local vendors, powerful speeches, and some big surprises we can’t wait to share with you.

We have some really exciting things planned for February’s event and we think it will be a fun and successful day, raising vital funds for South Australians impacted by cancer.

Is there a registration fee?

Registration fees vary depending on what type of Marilyn you choose to be and what merchandise you purchase. All registration fees include entry to the event and the pool, and a swim bag which is provided to you on the day of the event.

Registration fees:
  • New Marilyn $55 (including wig and sunglasses) + cost of bathing suit
  • Returning Marilyn $30

When do registrations close?

Registrations will be open until Thursday, 29 of January or if we hit our max registrations of 1500 participants.

How do I buy a swimsuit and swim ring?

Marilyn Merchandise can be purchased during registration, as well as through the Marilyn shop which is only accessibly via a registered fundraising page.

*A swimsuit and swim ring must be purchased during your registration for new Marilyns.

But, the State Government says it’s fine to swim at the beach?

add remove

At this stage, the State Government’s health advice is that South Australian beaches can still be enjoyed and to swim only in clear water conditions. Unfortunately, nobody can guarantee clear conditions on the day – that's a reality of running events like this one.

Because it takes months of planning and resources to hold this event, the pool offered a great alternative to ensure we can hold a fun and successful event for our participants while raising important funds.

Plus, we’ll still be supporting the Brighton Jetty Classic with our Marilyns invited to join our popular parade down Jetty Road!

How much of the registration fee and merchandise costs do towards cancer research?

add remove
While we are fortunate to work with some fantastic suppliers that enable us to deliver the Marilyn Jetty Swim, there is are expenses associated with the provision of swimsuits, swim rings and wigs.

It is for this reason that participants are asked to purchase their own items and contribute towards the cost of postage & handling - this helps reduce the overall expenses incurred with running the event and ensures that the money raised by participants is directed towards funding programs that have a greater impact on supporting the community.

After deducting the expenses, fixed Marion Outdoor Pool entry and postage and handling for a New Swim Marilyn participant, approximately $10 can be directed towards support and research programs.

Cancer Council SA does not rely on registration and merchandise costs to raise funds, instead we are grateful for the dedication and efforts of our registered participants to raise the funds needed to help us reduce the impact of cancer within our community.
