Roses From Joe - our ‘Why’
Roses From Joe is named after Joe DiMaggio, who apparently brought roses to Marilyn’s resting place for many years after she passed despite the fact they’d parted ways long before. We, like Joe, want to remember and honor beautiful, special people in our lives - those who have fought and won, those who are fighting, and those who lost against that darned C-word. We have all been impacted by cancer in some way, whether personally or through someone we love, and this swim is us ‘bringing them roses’ - each person is precious and heroic, but we want to do whatever we can to increase research, increase support, and increase the chance that cancer might be overcome for good.Thanks to you, we're one step closer to a cancer free future!
There are 30 new cancer diagnoses in South Australia every day. That’s more than 11,000 South Australians every year. Your support will help my team change this terrible statistic.
Every dollar my team raises through the Marilyn Jetty Swim will fund Cancer Council SA’s vital research, prevention programs and support services, like Cancer Council 13 11 20, for all South Australians impacted by cancer.
